The sealability of the valve refers to the ability of each sealing part of the valve to prevent medium leakage, which is the most important technical performance index of the valve. There are three sealing parts of the valve: the contact between the opening and closing part and the two sealing surfaces of the valve seat; The matching place between the stuffing and the valve stem and the stuffing box; The connection place between the valve body and the valve cover. The leakage in the former part is called internal leakage, which is commonly referred to as lax closing. It will affect the valve's ability to cut off the medium. For truncation valves, internal leakage is not allowed. The leakage in the latter two places is called external leakage, that is, the medium leaks from the inside of the valve to the outside of the valve. External leakage will cause material loss, environment pollution, and even cause accidents in serious cases. For flammable, explosive, toxic or radioactive media, external leakage is not allowed, so the valve must have reliable sealing performance.
After the medium flows through the valve, there will be pressure loss (I .e. the pressure difference before and after the valve), that is, the valve has certain resistance to the flow of the medium, and the medium needs to consume certain energy to overcome the resistance of the valve. Considering energy conservation, when designing and manufacturing valves, the resistance of valves to flowing media should be reduced as much as possible.
Opening and closing forces and opening and closing moments refer to the acting force or torque that must be applied when the valve is opened or closed. When closing the valve, a certain sealing pressure need to be formed between the opening and closing parts and the valve seat two sealing surface, at the same time, the friction shuold be overcomed between the valve stem and the filler, between the stem and the nut thread, the end of the valve stem and the other friction parts, so you must apply a certain closing force and closing moment, the valve in the process of opening and closing, the required opening and closing force and the torque is changed, its maximum value is either in the final moment of closing or the initial moment of opening. The valve should be designed and manufactured with the aim of reducing its closing force and closing torque.
The opening and closing speed is expressed in terms of the time required for a valve to complete an opening or closing action. There are generally no strict requirements for the opening and closing speed of valves, but some working conditions have special requirements for the opening and closing speed. For example, some applications require quick opening or closing to prevent accidents, while others require slow closing to prevent water hammer. This should be considered when selecting valve types.
This refers to the sensitivity of the valve to changes in medium parameters and corresponding reactions. For valves such as throttle valves, pressure reducing valves, and regulating valves used to regulate medium parameters, as well as valves with specific functions such as safety valves and drain valves, their functional sensitivity and reliability are very important technical performance indicators.
It represents the durability of the valve, is an important performance indicator of the valve, and has great economic significance. Usually it is expressed in terms of the number of opening and closing times that can ensure sealing requirements, or in terms of usage time.
